Hey, it’s so nice to meet you!
When I was nine-years-old, I won the “best storyteller” award at camp. At first, I was bummed – as a kid, “best swimmer” or “best dancer” seemed the like a much more exciting title to hold. However, looking back, that little award at day camp was very telling about my future. I probably spent that summer telling stories, fictional and non-fiction, to anyone who would listen. And somewhere along the line, I realized that I wanted to spend the rest of my life telling stories, making people laugh, and influencing the narrative to help change the world for the better.
I pursued my dream of “professional storyteller” at Emerson College, where I received my B.A. in Visual and Media Arts with a minor in Political Science, while also competing in high-level NCAA tennis. In 2020, I moved to London to attend the London School of Economics and Political Science, where I received an MSc. in Political Sociology. Through my education at Emerson and LSE, I learned how to captivate an audience and gained a comprehensive background in history, foreign and domestic policy, and law.
After graduate school, I tackled a career where I could work in media and politics. As the manager of Data for Progress’s weekly newsletter, I crafted the organization’s voice to be at the crossroads of pop culture, political humor, and hard data. Whether it was through name-dropping Taylor Swift or a niche political joke (remember “binders full of women?”), I am proud to say that my work increased Data for Progress’s newsletter open rate by 30% while keeping its current audience engaged.
As a social media strategist at Data for Progress, I oversaw the social media calendar for Instagram. After I started managing the Data for Project Instagram page in February 2023, their followers increased by 10%, and they reached 45% more accounts. My social media experience also extends from Democrats Abroad, where my strategy increased engagement for the Georgia Senate Runoff election.
My goal is to combine my passion for progressive social change and writing. Ultimately, I love making people laugh, and I hope to engage a wide audience in crucially important topics through humor. If I can make just one person laugh while learning about the Inflation Reduction Act, I’ve done my job.
